The Federal Government of Nigeria says it will not accept the appeal for self-isolation of Nigerians abroad who are willing to return home. "We cannot accept the request to isolate themselves because it will be difficult to control them. That's our position," said Secretary of State, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, to the Nigeria Presidential Task Force on the daily briefing of COVID-19 on Friday in Abuja.
Onyeama describes that some Nigerians who wanted to come home asked for self-isolation at their home, but such a request could not be guaranteed because it would be difficult to follow them.
He said the country's restricted sleeping quarters and isolation centers might have informed their demand for self-insulation in their homes on their return to the country. "The truth is, we don't have a lot of isolation centers and sleeping areas.
"We are searching for hotels in Lagos, and I have spoken to the Governor of Lagos. If we can get something, that's fine. "

Onyeama said the Chinese ambassador had pledged that his country would be ready to assist Nigeria's efforts to fight the coronavirus in any way it could.
He said that since it would be impossible to get all the tests done for Nigerians abroad who would come back to the country, the government decided they would be tested in Nigeria.
The minister said the Nigeria Center for Disease Control(NCDC) had agreed that it would be better to take all necessary safety measures in the fight against COVID-19 by testing them in Nigeria, which will enable FG to treat them.
